Spoiled Rotten!

http://www.mormontimes.com/mormon_voices/tiffany_gee_lewis/?id=8083

I had a minute today and read the article at the link above, from my mother-in-laws blog. It really hit home for me.
My daughter is sooooooooooooo spoiled! I know it's my fault. Every time we go to the store and she doesn't get something, she gets upset. She has so many things, mostly JUNK! Now she feels like she needs to have it all with her at all times. Even to school, her backpack weighs more than she does and I'm worried it will cause her back serious damage if we don't change and get her not to "NEED" all this stuff, all the time. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for de-cluttering without making her feel like I have "ruined her life" (as she would say). I'm sure whatever I do, it will be very traumatic for her.

Hi it's Nessa
I have a SPOILED ROTTEN little almost 6 year old and we were going through the exact same thing. We decided to sit down with her and talk about little kids that don't have half of this stuff. It went straight to her heart and her, Kev and I went through all her stuff and SHE set aside all the toys she doesn't want anymore to give to goodwill. Now she does it all the time and when she throws a fit in the store about not getting what she wants, I just remind her of our conversation and she calms down. Or I make deals with her with other privileges that mean a lot to her. Anywho, that's just my two cents :) Love and Miss You!!!

I wish I had some tips, but I don't have a clue! If you figure anything out, though, let me know - Asher is going to need it!!!!!

Hmmm...that sounds WAY too familiar. Let me know when you come up with a good solution!
