9 Lives

A couple weeks ago we thought Sam, our family cat of 15 years, was on his death bed. We noticed he wasn't eating (his favorite thing to do besides sleep). He wasn't really moving around either. Justin was home recovering from his surgery and Kenlee was off track. Justin decided that it was time to take him to the vet. Sam hates the vet, it gives him major anxiety. They gave him IV fluids and drew blood. The blood indicated that he had an extremely low red blood cell count and that he wasn't producing new good red blood cells. The vet assured us that he wasn't in pain and that he was just feeling tired and weak, so we chose not to put him down. Our little family was heartbroken. Kenlee was trying to nurse him back to health. She would give him water through a syringe, offering him food and carrying him to the litter box to see if he needed to go to the bathroom. For almost a week this went on, not knowing when he was going to take his last breath. Then one day, he started getting better. He started eating and moving around more. Now, he seems to be back to normal. It is the craziest thing. We know he won't be around for a whole lot longer, but for now, he's doing just fine. I do believe in the "9 lives" thing with cats and I think he's on #6 or so.

Kenlee made this little bed for him and he just slept there for hours.

Not at all interested in eating or drinking.

Surgery and Stuff

We have had a lot going on lately...
Justin had surgery for his deviated Septum on Friday. His doctor had to use splints to hold it in place. The dang splints are driving Justin crazy and he doesn't get them out until Thursday. He had a post-op appt with the ENT today and he said they squirted something up his nose so far it probably touched his brain, I guess everything else looked good and he is on his way to recovery. The first night he said he could already tell the difference. He is dealing with alot of congestion and soreness right now so its harder to breathe that the first night. Hopefully when he gets the splints out he'll feel like new....COME ON THURSDAY!!!
Justin took the week off work to recover. If he was in another profession, he would be back working again, since his job is so physical, he has to take the week off. Don't want to blow out nose stitches! OUCH!!
FYI: Everyone at St.Mark's Outpatient Surgery center was awesome, so extremely nice and his doctor, Dr. David Palmer (ENT specialist), was really good too.

Kenlee is off track right now and is spending time with her daddy.
Its super special Daddy-Daughter time! He even made her omelettes today....WHAT?? He hasn't even made me an omelette, EVER!!
I am so jealous of them right now. It's like they are on vacation without me!
Anyway, I know they are having fun together and getting in some quality time so I'll shut up about it (for a minute).

I have started getting back into my running rountine...slowly. I can't believe how out of shape I am right now. What was I thinking taking off the winter....Stupid, stupid!!

That's it for now. I will post another update on Justin after Thursday.
